The utilization rate at the PCB maker dropped to 85% in the second quarter on weakened demand from optoelectronics clients, the sources revealed. But orders have been growing steadily in the third quarter, particularly for its major products, including memory-module PCBs, optoelectronics PCBs, and hard disk drive (HDD) boards, the sources added.
The company has been increasing the proportion of high-density interconnect (HDI) boards and HDD boards in its product range. Currently HDI boards and HDD boards account for 10% and 12-15%, respectively, of Tripod''s shipments, the sources disclosed, adding that notebook PCBs account for 10%.
Tripod''s new PCB plant in Wuxi, China is due to be completed in the fourth quarter, with an initial monthly capacity of 25,000 square meters. With the new plant, the total capacity of Tripod''s facilities in Taiwan and China will reach 350,000 square meters, the sources said. |
